Inflection is here

def_inflection

After an autumn of daytime jobs, travel and physical activity rather than geeky, music making. December finally dropped some free time and inspiration. Those who have been following me from my first attempts at Max programming (Macro Modulator) through the Jazzmutant co-operation (DyNAmic), know that I have a crush on Ms. Step Sequencer. Notes, pitches, but most of all - modulation - arranged over time, in a grid of some sort. Lovingly inspired by the work of Elektron.

Inflection infoSo, here comes Inflection. A Max for Live device being controlled by Novation Launchpad. Rubbery buttons. Shiny LEDs. Plenty of patch cords.

The patch itself is still in some sort of pre-release-state, but those of you daring enough can download it here. Don’t count on any amounts of support. My focus is on improving and getting rid of quirks. So any reports of oddities are most welcome.

There are a number of things that you should know before trying it out. It only works on track 1, it assumes Launchpad is first in your list of control surfaces, settings are not saved from session to session, it has no preset/patch storing capability. You’ll probably discover more.

As of now, I just use it to play around and record any useful pattern to audio. Hope it’ll bring a smile to your face as well. Now - have a look at the video!

Paradigm Shift

It hurts. And it’s a releif.
The last six months has not been very productive. Not music wise. Still I’ve bought new gear thinking “when I get my XXX everything will get rolling”. Strangely - it doesn’t.
So I’ve tucked away much of my gear. Focusing on a much slimmer setup. Not defining myself by my music [...]

The man who sold the world

Feeling quite down in the dumps. Could it be a combination of staying up too late and not really getting anything done? Spending the weekend loosely browsing my favorite web spots, trying to catch a streak of inspiration.
After spending an hour or two in front of the TV, I finally got my ass out of [...]

Bedroom Sessions

In some senses I’m a control freak. There, I said it. Those of you who know me probably already know.
It influences my own music production in the sense that I can never let go. Nothing (well, almost) ever gets released. My hard drive is filling up with .alps and .maxpats that no one ever gets [...]

LFM is in a new house

The Lo-Fi Massahkah web has moved house. The adress is still the same. The content is still basically the same - music & binary geekness.
But the costume is new and improved. Enjoy!

The geekness continues

I will continue to make musical contraptions for the Lemur and Live. These will most likely be constructed in Max5. In any case I’ll keep sharing what is shareable. What goes around comes around - and I’ve learnt immensely from communities like the Ableton forum and the Mutant chat.
Head on over to the Binary stuff [...]
